my son does not have DDH. But there are no forums for kids with broken femurs he broke his femur at school on feb 11th, falling over a ball.
He is 3 years old and is Autistic so we arn't entirely sure what happened.
i wanted to offer my services. I am a seamstress. and made my son some fleece pants with adjustments to fit over the spica. I know how hard it is to find clothes to fit over it.
I wanted to find a support website for spica casts to offer my help. I feel very passionately for children stuck in spica's for any length of time.
please contact me via email pzamyslowski@yahoo.com for info.
i have not taken pictures of my son in his pants yet. But i need to.
Please know this is not spam. I really wanna help the parents and children dealing with spica's. If no one places an order it will not hinder me or break my heart. I am just out to help. |

Good Morning,
My son also broke his femur and is now in a spica cast! It's been a week so far and we're starting to get a routine down but it's been quite an adjustment! I definitely share your compassion for those children and families who are in these situations. But what resilient, brave little troopers we all have! It's been amazing to watch him adjust to this, although he certainly gets frustrated at times, when all he wants to do is run and play. We're getting there though...
How long will your son be in his cast? They anticipated 4-6 weeks for my son, but I'm planning on 6 since he's only 16 months old. I'll be very pleasantly surprised if they shorten it.
All my best to you and your family for a speedy and successful recovery!!

my son will get out on the 23rd. making it 5 weeks and 3 days. the dr is only in on tuesday and thursdays and he was casted on a saturday.
he had an x-ray on thursday and the dr. said everything looked great and he just needs more time.
Anthony is a huge trooper. He is also Autistic so he really doesnt understand what is going on. We were trying to get him to crawl around the floor. but he'll only go in circles. but he likes the change of scenery. We are waiting on our bean bag chair. should be here on monday. only gives him 2 weeks of use. but it will be a great 2 weeks!!! |

Thank you for offering your services. I sent you an email. I thought we might be able to work something out on getting your services out there in the forefront. I've been looking for a seamstress who was interested in this market. It is small, but there is a demand for a good product here. I look forward to hearing back from you.
I hope your son is doing well. Spica casts are such a chore on the entire family! I'm glad to hear that you only have a couple more weeks to go! |
